If you've ever fished Wiseman's for Bass you'll know that if you do your homework and be patient your likely to get a whole bucket load of top quality Bass from this part of the Hawkesbury River.
I would suggest launching from NSW Water Ski Gardens, there are a number of options from here and the park has cabins and caravans for hire, so you can even make it a base for a whole weekend of Bassin'. Most of the bigger Bass I've caught have been in the main river, so turn right from the Ramp and work the rocky banks on the right hand side with Eastcoast Wombat-Wizz or Pop-n-Fizz lures. Cast in and around the rocks and trees protruding from the bank. Spinnerbaits work well here too, with 1/8oz and 1/4oz Kokoda or Cam Strikezones in Red or Chartruese my first choice in this area. When the water is high, medium and deep diving lures like Halco Poltergeist or Poltergeist Super Deeps are extremely productive when worked from the bank all the way back to the Yak.
Almost directly across from the ramp is Webbs Creek, one of my most favourite places to chase Bass. Webbs is one of those waterways that is completely different in structure from year to year which makes it hard to advise on certain areas to fish. One thing I can say is that most of the fish here are caught around submerged trees, rocky banks and the small number of pontoons that service those lucky enough to live in this beautiful bushland area. I've caught Bass on everything here from small poppers and fizzers through to spinnerbaits and even 2" Berkley Tournament grubs have been hammered by members of the 400 club. Patience is the key here as the Bass can be holding on trees one week and rocky banks the next, so take your time and watch your sounder and your bound to clean up !
